Taking Care Down There with THERMIVa

Do you pee when you laugh? Are you unable to jump rope in your fitness class? Do you suffer from vaginal dryness? Do your enlarged labia cause you discomfort or embarrassment?

If you answered yes to one or all of the above questions, we want to share information with you what we believe is the best technological advancement in women’s health this decade. It’s groundbreaking, and it’s called THERMIVa.

What is THERMIVa?

THERMIVa is a revolutionary non-invasive vulvovaginal rejuvenation procedure that gently heats tissue, so that women can reclaim, restore and revive feminine wellness without downtime, discomfort or anesthesia. THERMIVa uses radiofrequency (RF) to tighten your external labial and internal vaginal tissues. It reduces vaginal dryness and urinary leakage and can improve your ability to have an orgasm by increasing sensation.

THERMIVa Treatment Focuses:

  • Vaginal Laxity – tightens the vagina at the opening and for its full length. This tightening is noticeable to patient and partner.
  • Vulvar/Labial Laxity – tightens the labial tissues to reduce sag and improve asymmetry. It results in smoother, healthier appearing tissue. Patients are more comfortable in tighter clothing and bathing suits.
  • Vaginal/Vulvar Dryness or Atrophic Vaginitis – treatment thickens the tissue and increases moisture both internally and externally. Most post-menopausal women no longer need vaginal estrogens or lubricants.
  • Mild to Moderate Stress Incontinence – treatment can reduce accidents, leakage, and urge symptoms. After treatment, many patients no long require pads.
  • Sexual or Orgasmic Dysfunction – can result in increased sensitivity, improved muscular contractions and ability to achieve orgasm in a shorter period of time. Treatments will increase sensitivity in both the clitoris and vulva.

THERMIVa Q&A

Is ThermiVa covered by insurance?

No. THERMIVa is considered an elective procedure and, therefore, not covered by medical insurance.

For those patients who desire long lasting labial correction, a labiaplasty may be a better option. At your consultation, we will advise you on which treatment will meet both your short and long term goals.

You should have a negative pap smear within the last 2 years.

THERMIVa can safely be performed six weeks after childbirth if you are not breastfeeding.

Almost all women will achieve some benefit from THERMIVa.

The following conditions exclude a woman from treatment:

  • Cardiac devices, such as pacemakers and valves
  • Pregnancy
  • Breast feeding
  • Active Sexually Transmitted Disease
  • Presence of a copper IUD
  • Active Urinary Tract Infection

Every patient is different, so longevity of results can vary. On average, results last 12 months. Most patients chose to have yearly maintenance treatments, as aging and gravity are constantly working against us.

We recommend 3 treatments, spaced a month apart.

The tightening result is visible immediately after your first treatment and improvement will continue over the next few months as new collagen forms. The most pronounced improvement is around 10 days after your first treatment.

No. Women can return to their normal activities immediately after. Sexual activity can also be resumed immediately. You may have mild swelling and/or temporary redness after treatment.

Treatments generally take 30 minutes.

No. The treatment is painless. You will experience a slight warm sensation during the treatment.

THERMIVa is safe and is FDA approved. No burns, blisters, infections or nerve damage have been reported. A single use, disposable handpiece is used to ensure no risk of transmission of infection.

An S-shaped hand piece is used to gently warm the tissues of the external labia and internal vaginal canal. A special probe monitors the tissue temperature to ensure optimal treatment temperature and safety.

The hand piece is passed back and forth slowly and with wide sweeps over the desired zone of treatment for several minutes, gradually heating the tissues to the therapeutic level where collagen building and tightening occurs.

THERMIVa works by applying controlled heat to targeted tissues to promote collagen production and remodeling. This strengthens and tightens the internal and external vaginal tissues.

Vaginal laxity is very common in women who’ve experienced vaginal delivery. It can also be the result of aging, obesity, chronic constipation, excessive straining or anything that causes the vaginal tissues to stretch. Damage to these tissues can alter their appearance and can also diminish sensation during sexual activity and reduce sexual satisfaction.
