What Is Breast Augmentation at Restora Austin?
Breast augmentation enhances breast size and shape with implants, fat transfer, or both. The goal is to create balance between your breasts and the rest of your figure.
We will help you choose implant type, size, profile, and placement and may recommend combining augmentation with a lift if sagging or asymmetry is present. Surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under anesthesia and often takes 1 to 2 hours.
Why Do Women Choose Breast Augmentation?
Women choose breast augmentation for many reasons, including naturally small breasts, lost volume after pregnancy or weight loss, or noticeable asymmetry. The shared goal is a fuller, more balanced shape that still looks believable on your body.

What Is Motiva Preservé Breast Augmentation?
Motiva Preservé combines Motiva implant technology with a more tissue-conscious placement approach. The concept emphasizes careful handling, strategic pocket creation, and implants designed to move more naturally with the body.
For the right patient, this approach can support discreet incisions, precise positioning, and soft, natural-looking results.
What Does It Mean to “Dress the Breasts”?
“Dress the breasts” describes matching the implant and technique to your natural anatomy instead of chasing an arbitrary cup size. Your surgeon considers chest width, skin quality, breast fold position, and nipple placement to create a result that feels proportional and personal.
What Breast Implant Options Are Available?
Restora Austin offers a wide range of modern breast implants, so your surgeon can fine-tune your result. Options typically include:
- Saline implants – Inserted deflated, then filled with sterile saltwater once in place, often with a smaller incision and a more budget-friendly cost.
- Silicone gel implants – Popular for their more natural feel and lower risk of visible rippling compared to saline.
- Form-stable “gummy bear” implants – Highly cohesive implants that help maintain shape while still feeling soft.
- Sientra implants – Premium cohesive gel implants chosen when their specific sizing and profile options match your needs.
- Mentor implants, including Mentor “Boost” profiles – A wide spectrum of widths and projections to dial in cleavage, upper pole fullness, and projection while preserving balance.
- Motiva implants – Ergonomic, next-generation silicone implants designed to adapt to movement and position for a more natural look and feel.
We will walk you through the pros and cons of each and recommend the combination of brand, size, profile, and placement that best “dresses” your breasts and matches your goals.
How Is the Preservé Approach Different from Traditional Augmentation?
Compared with more traditional pocket creation, a Preservé-style technique is generally more tissue-sparing and deliberate. It aims to reduce unnecessary trauma while improving implant control and long-term softness.
What About Fat Transfer to the Breasts?
Fat transfer can add subtle fullness using your own purified fat, usually taken from areas such as the abdomen, flanks, or thighs. It may be used alone for modest enhancement or with implants to soften transitions and refine contour.
Not everyone is a candidate, so your surgeon will determine whether fat transfer, implants, or a hybrid approach is the best fit.
What Happens During My Consultation?
During your consultation, your surgeon will review your medical history, examine your breasts, discuss implant options, and explain whether a lift, fat transfer, or other addition may help you achieve your goals. This visit is also your opportunity to ask questions and make sure expectations are aligned.
How Is Breast Augmentation Performed?
Breast augmentation is usually performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Small incisions are placed in locations such as the breast crease, around the areola, or in the armpit, and the implant is positioned above or below the chest muscle based on your anatomy and treatment plan.
Once symmetry and position are confirmed, the incisions are closed carefully with scar quality and healing in mind.
How do I choose the right implant size?
Instead of fixating on cup size, think in terms of proportion and the look you want in and out of clothing. Bring photos, try sizing options, and use tools like the “rice test” to see how different volumes feel.
Your surgeon will factor in your chest width, tissue quality, and lifestyle to recommend a size that enhances your shape without overwhelming it.
What Results Can I Realistically Expect?
Breast augmentation can improve size, fullness, and shape, but your natural anatomy still guides the final result. Your ribcage, skin quality, breast footprint, and nipple position all influence what implants can realistically achieve.
If a lift, fat transfer, or internal support is needed to reach your goals, your surgeon will explain why so you can make an informed decision.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
You may be a good candidate for breast augmentation if you:
- Are in good overall health
- Have fully developed breasts
- Feel your breasts are too small or deflated for your frame
- Notice bothersome asymmetry in size or shape
- Have realistic expectations and are choosing surgery for yourself
If your nipples sit well below your breast crease or if sagging is more of a concern than size, your surgeon may recommend a breast lift, breast reduction, or another breast procedure instead of or in addition to implants.
What Is Recovery Like?
Most patients experience swelling, tightness, and soreness during the first several days, with gradual improvement over the next few weeks. Many return to desk work within one to two weeks, while heavy lifting and strenuous exercise usually require more time.
What Kind Of Bra Do I wear During Recovery?
You will typically wear a surgical bra or post-operative garment first, then transition to a soft, supportive bra once cleared. Underwire bras and more structured styles are usually added back gradually as your implants settle.
How long do breast implants last?
Breast implants are long-lasting devices, but they are not considered lifetime devices. Some women choose revision after many years to change size, update implant type, or address issues such as rupture or capsular contracture. Regular follow-up and appropriate imaging help monitor implant integrity over time.
Why Choose Restora Austin?
- Results. Our “Before & After” pictures speak for themselves. Natural, beautiful results in a wide range of sizes and types of patients.
- Experience. Our board-certified plastic surgeons are arguably the busiest breast enhancement surgeons in Austin.
- Safety. It is a privilege when you choose us, and we don’t take that responsibility lightly. Your well-being and comfort are our primary concerns, so your procedure will be performed in a fully accredited operating room with a board-certified anesthesiologist.
- Team. Our team is a group of overachievers focused on delivering the best plastic surgery experience possible. Over half of us started out as patients of Dr. Gordon or Reid, so we have an intimate understanding of the anxiety and excitement that come with this decision.
- On the Cutting Edge. Our surgeons never rest on their past and present achievements. Their practice is a constant evolution in the “how” and “why” of aesthetic surgery, always perfecting techniques that minimize scarring, discomfort, and downtime but give maximal results.
- Respect. Our practice is built on word-of-mouth referrals from happy patients and our medical colleagues. For example, Dr. Gordon was named a Texas Rising Star in 2012 and 2013 and a Texas Super Doctor in 2014, and Dr. Reid was named a Texas Super Doctor in 2013 and 2014. Super Doctors identifies top doctors as selected by their peers and only 5% of physicians are named to Super Doctors and no more than 2.5% are named to the Rising Stars list. We have two of those docs under one roof!
- Artistic Approach. We don’t believe in “one operation or one type of implant fits all” cookie cutter approach to aesthetic surgery. Our doctors will create an individualized plan to exceed your expectations and bring out the best version of yourself.
Breast Augmentation FAQs
Do I need a breast lift with my implants?
You may need a lift if your nipples sit below the breast crease or if there is significant drooping that an implant alone cannot correct. Your surgeon will assess nipple position and skin elasticity at your consultation and explain when combining a breast lift with augmentation will likely give you a better, longer-lasting result.
Can I breastfeed after breast augmentation?
Many women are able to breastfeed after augmentation, especially when incision and implant placement are planned with future breastfeeding in mind. Be sure to share your family-planning goals with your surgeon so they can recommend incision choices and techniques that are more breastfeeding-friendly.
When can I drive, work out, and lift my kids?
You can usually return to driving once you’re off prescription pain medication and feel comfortable reacting quickly and turning the wheel, often around 1 to 2 weeks. Light walking is encouraged early, but heavy lifting, vigorous workouts, and high-impact activity are delayed several weeks and gradually reintroduced under your surgeon’s guidance.
What are the main risks of breast augmentation?
All surgery carries risks, including anesthesia complications, bleeding, infection, changes in sensation, scarring, and the possibility of revision. Implant-specific risks include capsular contracture, changes in position, rippling, and rupture or leakage. Your surgeon will review these risks in detail and discuss how they work to minimize them.
What Is AlloClae Internal Support?
Internal support materials may be used in select cases to reinforce the breast’s internal structure and help maintain implant position over time. They are more commonly considered in revision or complex procedures than in routine augmentation.
